March 9, 2026 morning forecast with Tara Hastings INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) –  Mild conditions for the next couple of days in fact we will be so warm that we could set some more record high temperatures. Thunderstorms will be likely Tuesday evening into Wednesday. Some of those storms could be on t he stronger side with more rainfall which we definitely do not need. TODAY: A mild Monday with lots of sunshine and high temperatures approaching 70 degrees. The record for today is 72 said way back in 1878. We are going to look for gusty winds at times out of the south and southwest at 22 to 25 mph. TONIGHT:  Look for mainly cloudy conditions overnight, still pretty breezy and mild with lows around 63. TOMORROW: Thunderstorms heading this way for your Tuesday. The first part of the day looks okay with incredibly warm temperatures. High temperatures will be right around 75 which if we do reach that number it will be a new record. The record on Tuesday is 74 set back in 2009. Winds will be gusty as well out of the Southwest near 20 and 25 mph.  Late Tuesday night we could see some showers and thunderstorms reach severe criteria. There is a slight risk where level two out of a level 5 for Indianapolis. Farther north a level 3 out of a level 5 is in play for northwestern sections of Indiana. Old severe weather modes are in play while it looks like the greatest organic threat will remain in northwestern Indiana. 7 DAY EXTENDED FORECAST:  More concerns of heavy rainfall. We could pick up one to 2 inches of rainfall over the next couple of days that could produce some more flooding concerns.  High temperatures on Wednesday will reach 75. More showers and storms could be possible . Dry day on Thursday with highs near 68 degrees. Cooler conditions for the end of the week. More rain chances on Friday with high temperatures only around 47. We will climb back above normal for the weekend with some clouds on Saturday and rain chances Sunday. ...read more read less
