On Sunday afternoon, there were still tire marks, pole damage and debris, remnants of a fatal crash in Arlington on Friday. Arlington Police said a 54-year-old woman was struck by another vehicle as she was making a left turn. “When officers arrived on scene, they located the driver of a 202 2 Hyundai Tucson, a 54-year-old woman, who required emergency medical attention,” Arlington PD said. “She was transported to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased.” Neighbors nearby are shocked. Cooper Street when he collided with the Hyundai. He was also taken to the hospital for treatment, police said. “Crash investigators believe speed may have played a role in the collision,” Arlington PD said. “Although it has not yet been confirmed, investigators are also working to determine whether the driver of the Mercedes-Benz was engaged in street racing prior to the crash.” On Sunday, NBC 5 saw about a dozen bikes racing around an empty parking lot near where the crash happened. Neighbors said they hear racing happening often, and that it’s becoming a problem. “I always have to be careful because I travel that way because I go to the gym down the road,” Coronado said. ...read more read less
