A woman died after a car crashed into a guardrail and then collided with her car head-on in Toms River Township on Saturday night, police said. The crash happened at around 11 p.m. on Lakewood Road and Whitty Road when a Volkswagon Jetta traveling southbound crashed into a guardrail, police said. The crash caused the driver of the Volkswagon to lose control and crash into a Honda Accord traveling northbound head-on, police said. The woman driving the Honda, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the hospital a short time later, police said. The unidentified man driving the Volkswagon was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition, police said. According to police, the driver of the Volkswagon was suspected of being impaired and they had a court-authorized blood draw at the hospital for further testing.
