USWNT wins 2026 SheBelieves Cup after beating Colombia 10
Mar 07, 2026
The U.S. women’s national team are back on top of the SheBelieves Cup.
The U.S. on Saturday took down Colombia 1-0 to win the 2026 tournament, finishing atop the group standings with nine points after three wins.
Emma Hayes’ side started the opening 15 minutes with the majority of the ball
, but as the intensity increased, Colombia took a foothold of the game.
Linda Caicedo, in particular, provided a consistent threat down the flanks for Colombia, but it couldn’t nick a goal to increase the pressure on the U.S.
The U.S. then took control to end the half despite not scoring, but sustained the momentum throughout almost the entirety of the second half. Hayes’ substitutions helped, as Tara McKeown came on at halftime, followed by Olivia Moultrie, Jaedyn Shaw, Lindsey Heaps and Emma Sears all in the 61st minute.
That’s when Colombia looked second best for good, but the U.S. didn’t find the back of the net until the 82nd minute. A draw would’ve sufficed to win the cup, but a win was the goal.
Shaw, who brought in immediate energy as she entered the pitch, assisted Alyssa Thompson, who rocketed home an unstoppable shot into the top left corner. Colombian goalie Katherine Tapia could only watch.
Colombia tried to respond, but didn’t have the legs nor the quality to penetrate the Americans’ defense consistently down the stretch.

Moultrie could’ve wrapped it up in extra time off a cutback shot, but sent her effort wide of the right post. The U.S. ended the game with 67% possession, nine shots (three on target) and one big chance. Colombia had 10 total shots but only one hit the target with no big chances.
Thompson claimed the MVP trophy after the game for her efforts as the U.S. won its eighth SheBelieves Cup since the tournament started in 2016.
Last year, the U.S. fell to Japan in the third and final game of the tournament to lose its five-year trophy streak.
This time, the U.S. beat Argentina 2-0, Canada 1-0 and Colombia to keep clean sheets in all three games en route to nine points.
Canada finished the tournament in second with a 1-1-1 win-draw-loss record, while Colombia settled for third with a 1-0-2 mark. Argentina went 0-1-2 for last.
The USWNT will return to the pitch next month, when it will take on Japan for three straight friendlies from April 11 to April 17.
