WAYNE COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Authorities are asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect involved in a burglary early Saturday morning at a convenience store in Wayne County. According to Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron, deputies were dispatched around 4:04 a.m. on March 7, 2026 , to the Cumberland Green Valero convenience store on East Highway 90 after a burglary complaint. Investigators say a masked male suspect broke the front door glass to enter the store and attempted to remove an ATM machine, but was unsuccessful. The suspect then reportedly took several cartons of cigarettes before leaving the store. Authorities said the suspect or suspects then traveled east on Highway 90 to a Shell convenience store in Bronston in neighboring Pulaski County. Officials say the individual attempted to enter that store but was scared away by an employee preparing to open the business. The vehicle involved was later seen traveling back toward Wayne County on Highway 90, according to investigators. The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office and the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office are coordinating the investigation. Anyone with information about the suspect or the vehicle involved is asked to contact the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office at 606-348-5416 or send a private message through the department’s Facebook page. Authorities say all information will be kept confidential.
