I was enjoying reading Tom Clyde’s column in The Record describing the Olympics and some of the scandals and observations when I came to his last line. Hanging out on Main Street in 2002 was far more interesting and fun than any event I attended. What?! I had to rub my eyes adjust my reading glasses to make sure that’s what I read.  Unlike most of his friends who he says attend many Olympics and agree with his assessment, I only have been to the 2002 Olympics. While I did do the Main Street thing, I was lucky enough to see the events that to me were incredibly more exciting, fun and memorable than walking Main Street. This is the Olympics, man! To be in the mosh pit at the bottom of the k120 ski jump finals with crazed fans from everywhere. Watching the giant slalom on CBs run at Park City rooting for Bode Miller and Eric Schlopy. The finish line for the downhill at Snowbasin as skiers came into view midair. And my favorite, watching with my son, Canada play the Czechs in hockey — Mario Lemieux vs. Dominik Hasek, aka The Dominator. (Also getting to put my arm around the Stanley cup with my son that was on display across the street from the arena. How cool!) So I am glad your friends enjoyed the street scene at the Olympics, probably walking the streets of Milan exchanging pins and eating cannolis. For me, if only I could have been in that stadium for those  gold medal games of the women and men in hockey. Ask those attending what was the most fun and their best memory of the Olympics! Fans of other sports I am sure have their favorite moments, as there were a lot. Russ Paskoski Snyderville The post Oh, he missed out appeared first on Park Record. ...read more read less
