Thu evening forecast – Mar 5, 2026
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indiana is moving into a warm and humid end to the workweek with the potential for record high temperatures in sight.
Rain and storm chances will also continue into Saturday.
Thursday night: Scattered showers will persist with de
nse fog expected into Friday morning. Lows will be fairly mild in the mid 50s.
Friday: Dense fog will be a problem through sunrise, with scattered showers and the potential for a few rumbles. Then, a warm front will take a massive lift to the north, which will lead to widespread temperatures in the 70s. Indiana may even work in some bits of sunshine as well, but it will also feel more humid with dew point values in the low to possibly mid 60s.
It is also worth mentioning to keep an eye on the afternoon and the evening for the potential of isolated redevelopment of storms. This will be contingent on if a cap overhead, a lid that prevents storm development, holds on or not. If, by chance, the cap breaks, then expect a strong-to-severe storm threat with all hazards possible. The overall threat is low but not totally out of the question.
Then, we’ll track additional activity after midnight Friday.
Record highs for the day are possible with numbers in the mid 70s. The Indianapolis record for the day is 75 from 1973.
Saturday: More in the way of showers and storms will move in during the morning and carry into the afternoon. Rain and storm chances will remain for the afternoon and maybe into the evening.
There is a Level 1-of-5 risk for isolated strong-to-severe storms with damaging winds and hail as the primary hazards.
7-Day Forecast: We finally look to work in an entire day without rain and storms on Sunday, with highs in the low 60s and some sunshine. Monday, for much of the day, will be nice with highs getting back near the 70s. Additional rain and storm chances are ahead for Tuesday and Wednesday.
