Eater writers and editors always get the same question. Friends, family, acquaintances, and randos all want to know, “Where should I eat right now?” That’s where the Eater Heatmap enters the conversation, pointing diners toward the most in
triguing or otherwise buzzy new restaurants in the D.C. area. This list considers restaurants that have been open for six months or less. For the hottest new bars in D.C., go here. And for our map of the region’s 38 essential restaurants, go here.
New to the list: Bombay Canteen, an homage to Indian street foods in Alexandria; Maru San, Capitol Hill’s sleek hand roll counter from a top Peruvian chef; Canton Disco, Navy Yard’s red-lit haven for modern Chinese barbecue; Ulivo, a dreamy Italian comeback on a Columbia Heights corner; and Katsumi, a reinvented sushi spot for Logan Circle.
And we say goodbye to: Gigi’s Pasta, Brasero Atlántico, Eunoia, (h)ours at Manifest 002, and Bonne Vie, which all opened in early fall.
