It must be true that football players start to slow down when they hit their 30s — even the best of them. Browns star defensive end Myles Garrett, who turned 30 on Dec. 29, was stopped at 1:35 a.m. on Feb. 21 in Wayne County for allegedly driving 94 mph in a 70 mph zone on Interstate 70. Garrett w as driving a green 2024 Porsche. Seven months earlier, when he was 29, he was stopped for driving 100 mph in a 60 mph zone. It was at least the ninth time since Garrett was selected by the Browns with the first pick in the 2017 draft that he was ticketed for speeding. Garrett was pulled over for driving 100 mph in a 60 mph zone in Medina County on Aug. 9 last year. In 2022, he crashed while speeding in a 2021 Porsche. He injured a shoulder in the rollover and was forced to sit out a game. “This will be definitely a wakeup call for me, just try to be smart overall with driving,” Garrett said in the Browns’ locker room four days after the 2022 crash. “Don’t take anything for granted. Be grateful that I’m still able to be here and just take my time.” Garrett was stopped on Sept 24 and again on Sept. 25 in 2021, for driving 105 and 120 mph. on I-71 in Medina County. Those tickets cost him $267 and $287. Garrett is due in Wayne County Municipal Court on March 10, but he can avoid court by paying a $100 fine. The Browns are in their offseason, so Garrett was not available to comment on his most recent incident. He was unapologetic about his arrest last August when interviewed at training camp. “I’d honestly rather talk about football and this team than anything I’m doing off the field other than the back-to-school event that I did the other day,” Garrett said on Aug, 20. “…“People want to know a lot of things, but I try to keep my personal life personal. I’d rather focus on this team when I can.” Garrett can afford all his traffic fines. He signed a four-year, $160 million contract extension in March 2025. ...read more read less
