FRANKFORT, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Time is running out for lawmakers in Frankfort to introduce new legislation during the 2026 Kentucky General Assembly. Wednesday marks the final day for members of the Kentucky House of Representatives to file new bills. The deadline for the Kentucky Senate pas sed earlier this week, with Monday serving as the final day senators could introduce new legislation. Lawmakers will continue working through existing bills in the coming weeks before the session pauses for the annual veto recess. The Kentucky General Assembly is scheduled to break on April 2 for a two-week veto recess, giving Gov. Andy Beshear time to review legislation and issue any vetoes. Legislators will return later in April to consider possible overrides before the final day of the legislative session on April 15.
