INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Blue Bell Creameries released a new Honey Vanilla ice cream flavor in stores Wednesday, marking the Texas-based company’s first new flavor of the year. The company also announced the return of fan-favorite Java Jolt for a limited time.
Hone
y Vanilla features a simple honey-vanilla taste with a creamy texture and mild sweetness. The flavor is available in pint-size containers at major retailers, including Walgreens, Meijer and Kroger.
Carl Breed, Blue Bell vice president of sales and marketing, said the company is excited about the new addition.
“We are buzzing with excitement over the release of our first new flavor of the year,” Breed said. “Honey Vanilla is for those who love simple flavors done right. The rich, creamy ice cream texture blends perfectly with the honey’s mild sweetness.”
The packaging highlights a yellow honeycomb design with images of a honey jar and dipper, intended to help the product stand out on store shelves, Breed said. While Honey Vanilla is designed to be enjoyed on its own, Blue Bell suggests pairing it with cookies, cakes or brownies.
Java Jolt, returning this month, combines coffee ice cream with dark chocolate chunks and a coffee fudge swirl. Like Honey Vanilla, it is sold in pint-size containers while supplies last.
Founded in 1907 in Brenham, Texas, Blue Bell distributes its products in 24 states and operates production facilities in Brenham, Broken Arrow, Okla., and Sylacauga, Ala. The company offers more than 40 flavors alongside frozen snacks and other products.
Blue Bell typically develops four to five new flavors each year, starting with ideas generated at the local level. Territory Operations Manager Josh Shoemaker and Territory Manager Darren Slater said concepts are gathered locally before moving to regional and corporate teams in Brenham.
“Every year we meet as a company here at the local level,” Shoemaker said. “We come up with wild new ideas for any flavor that you can think of.”
