HS Boys Basketball Wrap: Hopewell Valley’s playoff heartbreak continues; Thrive Charter rolls

MIDDLETOWN — The Hopewell Valley boys basketball team’s playoff heartbreak continued for another season after it lost, 66-62, in double overtime to Middletown South on Monday night.
The fifth-seeded Bulldogs (18-7) had the lead after three quarters, but much like last season when it lost a quart
erfinal heartbreaker to eventual state champion Colts Neck, the offense went cold as it only scored four points in the fourth quarter.
After an even 9-all first overtime, the fourth-seeded Eagles (16-11) came out ahead in the second extra sessions.
Christian Heide led Hopewell with 18 points, Grayson Vlasac added 12 and Jude Berman had 10.
Ryan Gannon netted a game-high 24 points and Evan Wells added 14 for Middletown South.
Westampton Tech 64, Burlington Twp. 50
WESTAMPTON — Jason Livingstone score 19 points, Alexander Jeanty added 12 and third-seeded WestTech (21-8) set up a semifinal rematch against Ewing by pulling away from the seventh-seeded Falcons (14-13) in the second half. Andrew Larbie tallied a game-high 23 for Burlington Twp.

HAMILTON —Tyler Hammond scored 19 points and the top-seeded Titans (19-5) marched into the semifinal after they routed eighth-seeded Henry Hudson (18-9) at the Iron Palace. Marjon Skillman added 15 points, Javion Cesar-Jones tallied 14 and Jamar Young had 10 to give Thrive four in double figures.
