Quick snow and sleet system to impact morning commute | Mar. 2, 2026

Marcus’ 4 a.m. Monday forecast
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Snow, sleet, and some freezing rain will move through the state this morning. Warm and wet conditions are expected for the rest of the week.
Today:
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 9 o’clock.
The system bringing
snow with some sleet—possibly some freezing rain and rain—is working in from Illinois. Like last Thursday’s system, this will be a quick hitter but could potentially impact the morning drive and bus stops.
A narrow band of 1 to 2+ inches is possible around Interstate 70. For everybody else, a dusting to as high as an inch of snow will be possible this morning.
In addition, a white glaze of ice is possible along a Sullivan-to-Bloomington-to-Seymour line.
Bottom line: This won’t be a high-accumulating snow, but it could be impactful due to the timing. So make sure to give yourself a few extra minutes to get ready and go this morning.
The good news is we will see this precipitation move out by mid-morning, and whatever snow accumulates is likely to melt off by later this afternoon under partly cloudy skies. High temperatures will top out in the low to mid-40s later today.
Wet warm week ahead:
The rest of the week looks extremely active, as a stalled boundary near the Ohio River will set up persistent rain almost every day.
Showers will be likely on Tuesday, and we may introduce thunderstorm chances into the forecast for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
Expect 2 to 3 inches of rainfall, with locally higher amounts given the thunderstorm chances. This could lead to some flooding issues toward the end of the week.
Meanwhile, very mild temperatures are on the way, with highs returning to the 50s on Tuesday, the 60s midweek, and possibly pushing into the 70s by Friday to close out the week.
