US strikes in Iran have prompted reactions around the Bay Area, from lawmakers speaking out to demonstrators gathering. In San Francisco, a coalition group came together to rally for about an hour outside the federal building before marching towards Market Street. They say they’re joining peopl e in other cities opposed to strikes launched in Iran. “I don’t think it’s necessarily surprising we been going to bed every night wondering if it’s going to happen tomorrow, but still there is some level of shock and we knew we had to immediately call this emergency action and get people out because I think a lot of people are really angry,” Yasmine with the Party for Socialism and Liberation said. In Berkeley, a small group of demonstrators called for democracy in Iran. Protesters gathered on the corner of Telegraph Avenue and Bancroft Way right outside Cal Campus. They say have mixed feelings about the overnight missile strikes by the US and Israel; while they never wanted Iran to be attacked in the way as it was overnight, they say this also presents Iranians an opportunity they’ve never had before. “See, people of Iran, they don’t want to go back to Shah’s dictatorship.
