NFL scouting combine attracts football prospects and city revenues INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The 2026 NFL scouting combine brings millions of dollars to Indianapolis. Christine Zetzel is director of strategic marketing at Visit Indy, which serves as the convention and visitors bureau for the ci ty. She said of the combine, “It has an economic impact of about $9.1 million for the city. When you think about all the players, the coaches, the prospects, even the visitors who want to become part of it, they are all eating at a restaurant, staying at hotels, so, yeah, it’s a huge driver for the city.” Returning this year is the combine’s free fan exhibit that’s open to the public through Sunday. It lets fans experience what the players go through from vertical jumps and the 40-yard dash to punting. Zetzel says fans will be packing the stadium Saturday when the quarterbacks are trying out. Heisman trophy winner and Indiana University quarterback Fernando Mendoza, who is widely considered to be the No. 1 overall draft pick, was expected to be a huge draw. Zetzel said, “There have already been a few Mendoza sightings around the combine. Can’t say if he’s throwing Saturday or not, but he’s definitely participating and was invited here.” Mendoza isn’t the only IU participant. The team that won the College Football Playoff National Championship this year has a record number of prospects at the combine. “Nine record athletes. I think they want to invite their fans to be a part of it and here to see their prospects and potentially taking the next steps to entering the NFL.” She added that Indianapolis is the perfect host city after a sensational football season. It is centrally located between eight local franchises and is just a drive away from Chicago; Louisville, Kentucky; and Cincinnati. The Circle City will continue to host the combine for the next two years.
