The hotelier that will operate the lodging property now known as the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Park City — The Yarrow this week was unable to provide details about whether an expected major redo of the building will require a full or partial closure of the stalwart lodging property during the wo rk. Outbound Hotels in January announced its involvement in the property. It has been branded the Outbound Park City, though The Yarrow moniker is still widely used in the community. The January release indicated the Outbound Park City is scheduled to debut early in 2027, “following a comprehensive reimagination of the property.” Some of the details include: • A layout centered on two courtyards. The release says the plan creates “an interior retreat that includes a new pool and hot tub, cabanas, loungers, fire features, and soft landscaping, plus a social après courtyard with communal seating, fire pits, outdoor games and space designed for live music, small events and year-round gatherings.” • 182 guest rooms that will be “refreshed.” The guest rooms “will incorporate adventure-forward details, including built-in storage and gear-ready layouts.” • Food and beverage offerings that include “a signature, retro diner concept, a speakeasy-inspired bar and flexible areas for après and warm-weather gathering with amenities that support the way today’s travelers explore the outdoors.” “Drawing inspiration from the Wasatch Mountains, the high-alpine range that shapes Park City’s landscape, seasons and year-round adventure, the design will blend Nordic clarity, playful mountain culture and Outbound’s warm, contemporary approach to materials and craft,” Outbound Hotels said in a prepared statement announcing the project. An Outbound Hotels representative this week said the firm is “currently in the initial planning phase of a thoughtful renovation and repositioning.” “The hotel will remain open while plans are finalized. We’re taking a phased and considered approach to the project and will share additional details regarding timeline and scope once confirmed,” the representative said. The property most recently underwent a major renovation in 2014, amid the talks about the franchise agreement that was reached with the DoubleTree brand. That renovation temporarily greatly limited the number of rooms available for bookings. In November of that year, at the start of the ski season, the hotel management indicated there were approximately 20 rooms available for guests as a result of the renovation. The hotel opened the rest of the rooms later. The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Park City — The Yarrow has long been seen as a lodging option for visitors seeking a lower price point than what is often charged closer to the bases of the two mountain resorts. It occupies a high-profile location at the intersection of Park Avenue and Kearns Boulevard.  The hotel is under new ownership after a dispute about plans for an ambitious redevelopment unfolded in 2024 and 2025. That concept envisioned remaking the property with a condominium-hotel and restricted affordable residential units. There was resistance to certain aspects of the concept, pursued by the former owner of The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Park City — The Yarrow. The height of the proposal was one of the key issues during those discussions.
