Victim shot multiple times in Buckingham shooting, suspect arrested

BUCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The Buckingham County Sheriff’s Office arrested a suspect in a shooting that left one person in critical condition on Thursday.
Dispatchers received a call on Feb. 26 about a shooting in the 10000 block of South Constitution Route.
When deputies arrived, they fou
nd blood, spent shell casings and a firearm. According to authorities, witnesses were still at the scene, but the suspect and the victim had already left.
“Investigators and Deputies responded to the hospital and shooting scene, where a search warrant was executed,” a release from the sheriff’s office said.
A description of the suspect’s vehicle was shared with law enforcement. The suspect — identified as Marcos Alejandro Albay — was later found and arrested by officers with the University of Virginia Police Department.
Albay was charged with malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and shooting into an occupied dwelling. He was held without bond and taken to Piedmont Regional Jail.
According to authorities, the victim is in critical condition with multiple gunshot wounds.
"This is still an active investigation; no additional information will be released at this time," the sheriff's office release reads.
