The first week in March is an interesting one in the Baltimore restaurant world, featuring everything from historic cocktails to wine for a cause. Here’s a look at what’s coming up: Openings announcements Hana Sushi in Hampden held its grand opening last week. The restaurant is locat ed in the former home of Souvlaki. The new Power Plant Live! location of Philly icon Geno’s Steaks opens on March 5. With March upon us, Kneads is launching its new spring menu, starting March 2. The Corner Pantry is also soft-launching spring, with treats like hot cross buns. Liquid Courage at the BMI On Saturday, Feb. 28, the Baltimore Museum of Industry’s annual Liquid Courage party returns. The event showcases the city’s history of distilling and cocktail-making with an interesting, interactive, and educational evening of tastings and discussion. Skating snacks On Saturday afternoon, a free ice skating event will pop up at Middle Branch Park, as part of the 3rd Annual Youth Resiliency Institute Winter Activation. In addition to free skating and an appearance by champion figure skaters, the event will include food from Shareef’s Grill, Get Da Scoop, Hadiya’s Sweet Treats, and Concessions by Ashley – perfect to fuel a busy day of skating.  British Classics at The Corner Pantry On Thursday, March 5, The Corner Pantry offers a cooking class focused on classic British dishes. This is the first in a spring series, which also includes and April 2 class on salads and dressings and a May 7 class focused on pasta and dumplings. In Service of the Bay at True Chesapeake Also on March 5, True Chesapeake, in partnership with The Vineyards at Dodon, hosts a panel discussion focused on restorative farming practices and their impact on the Chesapeake Bay. The discussion, called “In Service of the Bay” includes speakers from the Maryland Department of Agriculture and the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. Tickets include a glass of Dodon wine, True Chesapeake oysters, and additional hors d’oeuvres. Chefs Cycle dinner at Gunther Co. March 5 is also the date for Gunther Co.’s six-course Williamette Valley wine dinner. The evening, which features a variety of sparkling, white, and pinot noir wines, is a fundraiser for Chefs Cycle for No Kid Hungry. Cocktails at Cosima On Friday, March 6, Cosima hosts a cocktail-making class. Bartender John Brown will teach the lass how to make three unusual drinks. Maryland Vegan Restaurant Week Maryland Vegan Restaurant Week returns for its 18th season on March 6. From then through March 18, local restaurants will showcase plant-based dining on their menus, with specials and creative takes on vegan food. The event kicks off with a party at Bar V 2.0 on March 5, starting at 6 p.m. Participants in the promotion include Golden West Café, The Land of Kush, Miss Shirley’s Café, Bar V 2.0, Towson Hot Bagel, Slutty Vegan, The Lord Baltimore Hotel LB Tavern, Cypriana, Nepenthe Brewing, Underground Pizza, Oleum, Little Havana, HEX Superette, The Verandah, Red Emma’s, The Natural Juice Bar, Rooted 3 Market, and Jubilation Plant Based Kitchen.
