Space, design and functionality came together seamlessly in t
he creation of this bunk room. Featuring four cozy, private sleeping areas, each nook includes its own reading light, built-in desk and hidden storage. Crafted from warm wooden paneling, the fluted detailing adds textural and architectural interest while the open design makes the room feel spacious. The custom bunks are thoughtfully designed for sleep, work and relaxation alike. “It’s proof that intentional design can make every inch of a room work harder and be a lot more fun,” said Jackie Kiracofe, an interior designer on the project.

Art Display
Gold: Liz Lidgett Gallery + Design
This decor project invites guests on a vibrant visual journey. Each room offers a distinct experience anchored by an art piece, yet the overall flow of the home remains beautifully cohesive. “When planning art placement, use sightlines to create a visual dialogue between rooms,” said Hannah Jacobus, the gallery’s director of interior design. In the dining room, butter-yellow walls provide a warm backdrop for a bright, multicolored piece by AK Hardeman. Soft accents of baby blue subtly link the dining area to the living room, where multiple works, including a serene landscape by James Navarro, create a harmonious flow from one space to the next.

Lighting
Gold: Dwell Home Furnishings Interior Design
This home blends natural and artificial lighting to give each space a distinct character. In the powder room, hanging globe lights pair with a vertical sconce to complement the geometric patterns of the wallpaper. The round stairwell is lined with tall vertical windows that flood the space with natural light, while an abstract chandelier suspended between two stories adds a striking focal point. In contrast, the sleek, moody dining area features layered lighting to keep things bright — from wall sconces and pendant lights above the kitchenette island to a geometric chandelier illuminating the dining table. Jackie Kiracofe and Timothy VanRheenen, two interior designers who worked on the home, noted they were “drawn to lighting that feels like a functional sculpture.”

Wallpaper
Gold: Jeid Studio
During a mid-century remodel, the client envisioned a whimsical look for their home. Inspired by the client’s vibrant personality, designers chose this dining room wallpaper for its bright, multicolored palette that sets the tone for the rest of the design. “Using bold colors allowed us to step outside our comfort zone,” said Lilli Brown of Jeid Studios. “We love using wallpapers that mimic rich materials like grasscloth, plaster or woven fibers.”

Historic Renovation (50 Years or Older)
Gold: ALT Design Studio
Rooted in its 1889 Victorian foundation, this renovation project transformed a former multi-unit apartment building back into a single-family home while preserving its historic charm. “Our No. 1 goal while working on a historic home is to give it new life but always honor its original character,” explained designers Jessica Lemmo and Taylor Johnson. The exterior restoration included refreshed siding and the addition of a spacious front porch. Inside, classic architectural details were carefully salvaged and reimagined with modern updates, including a beautifully renewed fireplace that bridges past and present.
