Cuteness overload! New Jersey’s Adventure Aquarium is buzzing with excitement after welcoming three adorable Little Blue Penguin chicks. The aquarium announced that the trio of chicks made their debut during the first week of February: a male on Feb. 2, a female on Feb. 3, and another male on F eb. 5. The first chick is the sixth offspring of parents Sheila and Spud, who are also the parents of Tater Tot, Kiwi and Saquon, and Sheila’s tenth chick. The younger chicks were born to Maremma and Bloke, marking their fourth and fifth chicks together and their first-ever set of clutch mates, the aquarium shared. The pair is also parents to Lovie and Griffin. “Sheila and Spud are successful, proven parents and are once again doing a wonderful job with their chick, nicely allowing the biologists in the nest each morning to check on the chick’s growth,” said Jamie Becker, biologist on the Aquarium’s Birds and Mammals team. “Maremma and Bloke have been doing a great job taking care of two chicks and are very protective parents.” As the chicks grow, Adventure Aquarium staff will choose the perfect names for them. Stay tuned to the aquarium’s social media for the big name reveal. Little Blue Penguins, known for their striking slate-blue feathers, are the smallest species of penguin in the world, according to the aquarium. They are naturally found along the coastlines of Southern Australia and New Zealand.
