Commuters who rely on Route 202 through King of Prussia in Montgomery County will need to brace themselves for traffic slowdowns that could last until fall as, starting Thursday, PennDOT will begin the next phase of a $22.4 million long-term sinkhole repair project in that area. Starting Thursda y, PennDOT officials said, southbound lanes along Route 202 — between Prince Frederick Boulevard/Saulin Boulevard and Henderson Road in Montgomery County — will be closed 24 hours a day and seven days a week. The work continues the effort that saw northbound lanes of the roadway repaired and reopened last year. In a statement on the project, PennDOT officials said that the project will see the southbound lanes in this area closed through “late fall” of this year, in order to give crews time to “stabilize the ground and reconstruct the roadway.” During construction, officials said, drivers will be detoured onto Saulin Boulevard and Henderson Road but local access to homes and businesses will be maintained.
