Police investigating ‘situation' near St. Joseph's University, officials say

Law enforcement officials descended on the area near St. Joseph’s University in Lower Merion Township early Wednesday as a police investigation was underway.
A heavy police vehicle could be seen parked along the closed off roadway at the scene as officers worked in the area.
However, offici
als did not immediately provide specifics into what incident brought police to the area early Wednesday.
At about 6:15 a.m., police posted on social media about the situation, noting it was “contained” and there was no threat to the public.
NBC10’s Lili Zheng was at the intersection of Old Lancaster and Edgehill roads in Lower Merion Township, just about a block from St. Joseph’s University’s campus, at about 5:30 a.m., on Wednesday, to find police vehicles throughout the area.
She was told by officials to stay back about a block from where the officers had set up police tape.
Asked about the investigation, officials did not confirm any specific details immediately. But, they said a “situation” was under investigation.
Officials also told NBC10 that there would likely be more information provided later on Wednesday morning.
Police have not announced any arrests, nor have they said if anyone was injured in this incident.
But, NBC10 is working to learn more.
