INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indianapolis International Airport was again named the Best Airport in North America, according to an annual customer survey.
It’s the 14th straight year it’s received the honor and the airport’s 15th overall.
Every year, the Airports Council International ask
s more than 700,000 travelers about their experience with its Service Quality Customer Experience Awards survey.
Officially, the Indy airport was named the Best Airport in North America, for airports seeing 5 million to 15 million passengers, in 2025.
In a statement announcing the award on Tuesday, the airport says its reputation as one of the world’s best airports is crucial for serving both Hoosiers and visitors alike.
Megan Carrico, senior director of public affairs at the Indianapolis Airport Authority, said in a statement in the announcement, “Our reputation among travelers as the best in North America is a big plus when working to attract large events, conferences and sports championships. In turn, our partners who compete to bring these opportunities to the city can speak with confirmed confidence about our ability to handle peak travel days, severe weather and so forth – and yet still provide an outstanding customer experience for the 10 million-plus passengers who pass through the Indy airport year after year.”
The survey measures feedback from passengers on 30 different metrics on a five-point scale. IND received high scores for the airport’s atmosphere, arriving experience, check-in, security, gate areas, providing a relaxed feeling, overall staff service, and navigation throughout the airport.
It was also named the Best Airport for Easiest Airport Journey in North America in 2025.
Executive Director Mario Rodriguez of the Indianapolis Airport Authority said in a statement in the announcement, “Our staff is the differentiator for IND among other airports around the world. They have both the technical depth and operational expertise to anticipate and plan for the unexpected as travel almost always provides. And yet they also genuinely care about how the journey through the airport affects travelers and their families when they’re here. That’s the balanced equation for providing world-class customer experience.”
The airport credits upgrades to the parking garage, art galleries, new restaurants, sensory and nursing rooms, and pet relief areas as features that help it stand out to passengers.
Last year, IND also received top honors from the Michigan-based consumer analytics firm, J.D. Power.
