Jamie Lee Curtis is mourning the loss of ex-boyfriend Robert Carradine, following his death by suicide at age 71. In a touching Instagram tribute on Tuesday, the “Halloween” star, 67, fondly remembered her romance with the “Lizzie McGuire” star as her “first experience with domesticity and motherhood and partnership.” She recalled their “very public meet cute” during a 1977 interview on the “Dinah!” show, during which “Bobby rearranged where we were all sitting” so that he could sit next to her, then kissed her “live on television.” Curtis said she and Carradine, who were still young, fairly unknown actors at the time, quickly began dating and “became a little family, [living] in a dirt-floored house in Laurel Canyon” along with his daughter, Ever, who was 3 at the time. “I remember walking with Ever to the little Canyon market and bringing our laundry down to the laundromat below and folding her little clothes for the first time and the simplicity and beauty of Laurel Canyon in the late ’70s,” Curtis wrote. She also recalled recognizing Carradine from the 1972 film “The Cowboys” only after they’d been together for a while. “He was my first crush in the movies and I didn’t realize it,” she said. Even after the pair eventually broke up, they remained friends, Curtis said, adding that she’s still friends with Ever to this day. Carradine’s daughter, who went to become an actress herself, is now 51. In her own tribute on Instagram, Ever remembered her father as “a lover, not a fighter,” a man who was “all heart.” The “Revenge of the Nerds” star’s death was confirmed to multiple outlets by brother and fellow actor Keith Carradine. In a statement, the family wanted to be open about Robert’s “valiant struggle against his nearly two-decade battle with bipolar disorder.” “There is no shame in it,” Oscar winner Keith, 76, told Deadline. “It is an illness that got the best of him, and I want to celebrate him for his struggle with it, and celebrate his beautiful soul.” ...read more read less
