Ryan Coogler “X Files” reboot to star Danielle Deadwyler

Danielle Deadwyler has been cast as a main character in Ryan Coogler’s “The X Files” reboot for Hulu.
Movie fans know Deadwyler from her work on “Till” and “The Piano Lesson.”
Deadline reported Monday she’ll join the freshly greenlit science fiction program that hired “The Copenhag
en Test” producer Jennifer Yale as its showrunner.
Coogler, who operates Coogler’s Proximity Media,” reportedly inked a 5-year extension with Disney around the start of February. Disney owns Hulu.

His directing credits include “Sinners,” “Black Panther,” “Creed” and “Fruitvale Station.”
“Sinners” is nominated for a 2026 Academy Award for Best Picture. Coogler is up for a Best Director Oscar.
“The X Files” ran from 1993 to 2002 on Fox before returning for a second run lasting from 2016 to 2018. The show‘s 218 episodes featured two investigators looking into sometimes unexplainable phenomenon starred David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson.
Hulu hasn’t announced a release date for Coogler’s “X Files” relaunch. The casting of other lead characters hasn’t been reported. Deadline says the pilot is being cast by Francine Maisler who worked on “Sinners.”
