The Delaware Valley High School wrestling team is now just one more win away from perfection after it destroyed Hanover Park, 58-19, in a Group 1 semifinal Friday night. With the win, Delaware Valley is 23-0 and will face Emerson Boro on Sunday in the Group I championship match. That match will be h eld at Rutgers University at noon. Emerson Boro advanced on Friday by beating South Jersey champion Sterlng, 39-36. Delaware Valley is the defending Group 1 champion and is shooting for its fourth state title in five years. Andy Fitz’s team started fast against Hanover Park when Olivier Paul won by technical fall in the opening bout at 190 pounds, and then Luke Cyphert (215) and heavyweight Luke Alberdi followed with falls. By the time the match was over, DelVal also got pins from Jaxon Bingert (113), Tanner Donaruma (126), Tye Falkenstein (138), Michael Hasson (144) and Sebastian Dobak (150). Marcus Gary also won by technical tall at 165 pounds. In another semifinal involving an area team, red-hot Mt. Olive blasted North Hunterdon, 47-25, in Group 3. This result ended North Hunterdon’s bid to repeat as the Group 3 champion and advanced Mt. Olive into a final at Rutgers against Toms River East, which beat Central Jersey champion Colts Neck, 39-26. In regular-season action, Hopewell Valley crushed North Brunswick, 61-15.
