A police officer shot and killed a suspect Friday, Feb. 19, 2026, while serving a narcotics warrant in Dallas, police said. Dallas Police Chief Daniel Comeaux said SWAT officers arrived around 10 a.m. in the 1000 block of Shaw Street in West Dallas to execute the warrant. As officers approache d the house, Comeaux said a suspect opened the front door armed with a gun. “This gun was pointed directly at the officer’s head,” Comeaux said during a news conference. “And the officer was able to shoot the suspect and keep everyone else safe behind him.” The suspect died at the scene. Police have not released the person’s identity. No officers were injured. Comeaux said Dallas police will release body camera footage at a later date, which has become customary for the department in recent years.
