HOPEWELL, Va. (WRIC) -- P’Aris Moore's loved ones were in the Hopewell courtroom all week wearing pink. It's something they do to honor the 8-year-old who was killed in December of 2022. Her killer was found guilty on Thursday, Feb. 19.  After a three day trial, Jamari Taylor was found guilty of  first degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder and felony use of a firearm. The jury deliberated for less than an hour before reaching the guilty verdict.   P’Aris’s mom, Brionna Taylor, feels justice is being served but said living without P’Aris is a life sentence.  “Excuse my french, but it’s been hell," she said. On Dec. 30, 2022, three men in a silver Honda Civic drove down Freeman Street in Hopewell. A shot was fired out the car window and hit P'Aris. In the car was Brandon Warner, Rayquan Harvell and Jamari Taylor.  Warner pleaded guilty to killing P’Aris in March and is serving a 25 year prison sentence. Warner will face trial in June. P'Aris's loved ones sat in the courtroom as messages and phone calls between Harvell and Taylor showed that they discussed P’Aris’s death. They even sent screenshots of media releases from police to each other.  “We serving a life sentence out here on earth while they still live," Brionna said. "Even though they’re incarcerated, you still breathing, you still get to eat, you still get to talk to your mom.”  It would take eight months for the three men to indicted and arrested after law enforcement testified that they followed every lead in the case.  “I thank Detective Clark for her hard work and determination because if she woulda gave up, then we would’ve been a cold case," Brionna said. Detective Tara Clark with the Hopewell Police Department was the lead detective in the case, and a key witness who testified during Taylor's trial.    Jamari Taylor will be sentenced in June.
