Lincoln Police Cruiser (Jeff Motz/KFOR News)LINCOLN–(KFOR Feb. 18)–There continues to be a downward trend in the number of burglaries reported to Lincoln Police. Between 2024 and 2025, LPD saw about a 26.5% drop in the number of burglaries reported. LPD public information manager Erika Thomas sa ys affordable security technology is helping to deter crime and provide evidence when it does happen. She says they encourage locking your doors and windows, even when you are at home, along with using motion lights or cameras, keeping valuables out of sight, having someone picking up mail and packages while you are away and report any suspicious activity. Thomas adds financial loss also dropped by 26% between 2024 and 2025 and in 2025 alone, there was a 21% clearance rate of burglaries, which is a 15-year high. ...read more read less
