Controversial Olympian Eileen Gu says she was ‘assaulted’ and ‘robbed’ at Stanford: report

(KRON) -- Controversial Olympic skier Eileen Gu had her dorm room robbed and was assaulted on the street while a student at Stanford. That's according to an interview Gu gave to The Athletic that was published Tuesday.
Gu, who was born in San Francisco, is a student at Stanford but is currently tak
ing a year off from her studies as an international relations major. At 22, Gu is already a decorated Olympic skier having won her fifth career Olympic medal on Monday.

However, Gu's success at the Games has oft been overshadowed by her decision to represent China over the United States. Gu, who is one of the biggest name athletes at the Milan Cortina Games, has been described as a lightning rod.
Speaking to The Athletic, Gu implied that controversy had followed her to Stanford.

"Physically assaulted on the street," she told the publication. "The police were called."
"I've had death threats," she added. "I've had my dorm robbed."
KRON4 has reached out to Stanford's campus police for more information. We have yet to hear back.
The SF-born Gu, who in addition to being a student at Stanford and an Olympic medalist, has modeled for Victoria's Secret, is due to serve as the grand marshal at San Francisco's Lunar New Year parade next month.
Prior to attending Stanford, Gu was a student at University High School in San Francisco.
