“We’re going to expose it” — Mace calls for full transparency in Epstein files, judicial term limits
Feb 16, 2026
COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) — U.S. Representative and gubernatorial candidate Nancy Mace says more must be done regarding transparency out of the Epstein files.
Monday afternoon the congresswoman held a press conference outside the State House on the matter — also discussing a new proposal on judicia
l terms.
“You have billionaires and prime ministers, former prime ministers, dignitaries… and all of them walked free,” says Mace.
Earlier Monday, Mace says she sent a letter to U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton demanding immediate access to an unredacted memorandum on potential Epstein co-conspirators.
Mace’s team says despite The Epstein Files Transparency Act, which was a bipartisan effort, the documents remain heavily redacted and conceals the identities of wealthy and powerful individuals.
The DOJ claims the redactions were applied by the U.S. Attorneys’ Office for the Southern District of New York prior to transmission and that they do not have the unredacted memorandum.
“I don’t believe it. I think it’s all a cover up,” says Mace, who believes the unredacted version is essential for Congressional oversight.
Attorney General Pam Bondi was recently criticized in a sworn testimony for referencing the Dow (Jones) when confronted about lack of indictments around the Epstein files. Bondi later sent a letter to Congress saying no records were withheld on the basis of embarrassment, reputational harm, or political sensitivity.
ABC Columbia’s Lee Williams asked Mace to respond to Bondi’s letter.
“That’s not true. And in fact, I spent the weekend reviewing information and there were pinhole cameras in every single room of every single property of Epstein’s. Neither the audio or video were included in those files. There were cameras throughout his (home). Where are those? There are files that have been taken down off the DOJ’s website,” she says.
And should she win the governor’s race, Mace is also laying out a new policy proposal for South Carolina’s judges, which would apply a 12-year term limit for each position.
She says so often judges let criminals out of prison too soon, adding, “You can liken it to the Epstein situation. We know that there were over 1,000 victims and only one accomplice is in jail, so the Epstein saga isn’t just about Epstein victims, it’s about victims all over the country that never see justice.”
On Tuesday, Mace says she’ll be sending a letter to the CIA — saying she believes there may be SC connections to Epstein — including federal agents.
“And I’ll be doing everything I can to expose the truth. Regardless of who it names. My list of names when I put it out will be nonpartisan — Democrats and Republicans — I don’t care who you are. But if you’re affiliated with this monster, we’re going to expose it,” she says.
Primaries for the SC governor’s race will be held on June 9th.
