Two 20-year-old New Haveners were shot and injured early Sunday morning following the report of a fight in Fair Haven. The New Haven Police Department posted on the social media site X about those two nonfatal shootings. The department published an initial post at 8:29 a.m. Sunday and a follow-up press release at 11:44 a.m. Monday. The press release states that, at around 1 a.m. Sunday, city police officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation in the 100 block of James Street. “Officers located a large group dispersing from the area of Mill Street and Chapel Street,” the press release continues. “A passersby advised responding officers that there was a fight on Chapel Street and someone had been shot.” Officers then found two victims, both 20-year-old men from New Haven, “who were each transported by private vehicle to other locations in the city. Their injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening.” Police ask that anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who may have information valuable to investigators to call detectives at 203-946-6304 or through the department’s anonymous tip line at 866-888-8477. The city’s most recent CompStat report shows that, through Feb. 1 of this year, there had been no homicides and seven confirmed shots fired so far. That compares to two homicides and nine confirmed shots fired by this same time last year. The post Two 20-Year-Olds Shot, Injured appeared first on New Haven Independent. ...read more read less
