INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — One person was taken to the hospital in critical condition after trying to flee a traffic stop on the west side of Indianapolis early Monday, police said. Just after 3:30 a.m., a driver on northbound I-465 refused to stop for an officer with the Indianapolis Metropolit an Police Department, leading to a pursuit, IMPD Public Information Officer Tommy Thompson told News 8. The driver ended up crashing and had to be cut from the vehicle by rescue crews, according to Indiana State Police dispatchers. It’s unclear why the IMPD officer wanted to stop the driver. The exit ramp from northbound I-465 to westbound I-74 was closed for several hours for cleanup and repairs, but has since reopened.
