Since the IRS is a government agency, offices will be closed on Presidents Day and federal workers have the day off. According to an IRS spokesperson, both IRS offices and phone lines will be closed on Monday, Feb. 16. The IRS will reopen during normal business hours on Tuesday, Feb. 17. That said, the two weeks after Presidents Day tend to be some of the busiest for the IRS helpline and callers can expect to wait on hold for up to 15 minutes or longer before reaching a tax assistant.
