The Philadelphia Police Department’s Northeast Detectives Division is seeking help from the public to track down a man who, officials said, attacked a woman at a Northeast Philly bus stop and stole her purse on Feb. 5, 2026. On Sunday, police shared surveillance footage of the incident on socia l media in the hopes of capturing the man involved. According to police, the robbery happened at about 5:28 a.m. on Deb. 5, 2026, when the man seen in the video approached a woman from behind at a bus stop located along the 6900 block of Torresdale Avenue in Northeast Philly. At that time, officials said, the man sought by police grabbed the victim’s purse by a strap and pulled it off of her shoulder, pulling her to the ground and dragging her a short distance in the attack. Following the robbery, police said, the suspected thief — described as a man between 30 and 40 years of age, standing about 6-foot tall, 210 lbs., with a full beard, who was wearing a blue/green striped shirt and jeans at the time of the incident — fled on fool along the 46oo block of Disston Street. In this incident, officials said, the thief made off with cash, a cell phone as well as the victim’s keys and identification.
