Volunteers at Austin’s Festival Beach Food Forest rushed to save more than 90 plants after learning a temporary wastewater line for the I‑35 expansion will cut through recently planted parkland. The community turned out in force to relocate trees, including a 40‑year‑old mountain laurel now set to be moved instead of destroyed.
