Police identified a suspect Thursday in the fatal shooting of Sincere Campbell, a 17-year-old boy who was gunned down outside a deli a block away from his family’s Bronx home in 2024. Christopher Mejia, 28, is being sought in connection with the shooting outside the Evergreen Deli and Grocery loca ted at Evergreen and Westchester Aves. in Soundview around 3:25 a.m. on Sept. 21, 2024, cops said. Mejia has four prior arrests, including assaults in 2019 and 2022, and a DUI in 2020, cops said. He was most recently busted for driving with a suspended license in 2024, according to law enforcement. The NYPD also released Mejia’s mugshot and is asking for the public’s help tracking him down. Surveillance video obtained by Bronx News 12 shows Sincere arguing with several men outside a car at the curb before a hooded gunman drew a weapon and opened fire. Victim Sincere Emanuel Campbell. She asked if he was hungry. He said no and she fell asleep.” The teen’s family speculates he later walked to the bodega for a snack. Jessica said Sincere was a senior at Leadership and Public Service High School in Manhattan, and wanted to be an engineer for the MTA. “Me and him were talking about him doing an apprenticeship program for the MTA and starting the process of becoming an engineer,” Jessica said. “He was very serious about this since he was in elementary school. He loved Thomas the Tank Engine. He always talked about that throughout his life — he wanted to be a train engineer. He always stuck with that.” He also loved watching and reading anime, the family said, adding he was a big fan of basketball and soccer, and that his favorite players were Stephen Curry and Lionel Messi. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential. ...read more read less
