Delaware Co. native Olympian Taylor AndersonHeide credits family for success
Feb 12, 2026
A Delaware County native will represent Team USA at the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics. Taylor Anderson-Heide is part of the U.S. Women’s Curling team competing at the Games.
She grew up in Broomall.
Anderson-Heide helped Team USA open the women’s event with an 8-4 win over South Kore
a on Thursday morning, as well.
The 30-year-old credits her family for her success.
“I am proud to do this for them,” said Anderson-Heide.
Anderson-Heide said she was about 4-years-old when her dad first had her on the ice at the Philadelphia Curling Club in Paoli.
“I remember being babysat there. I love that curling club,” she said. “I fell in love with the sport there and watching my sisters play really got me into the sport.”
Anderson-Heide is one of five girls. All of the sisters curled growing up thanks to their dad, who started the junior curling program at the club.
Anderson-Heide said she is proud to be a representative of him on the world stage.
“I just know how much he loves it and how much he gives to the sport and I’m just proud to be his daughter,” said Anderson-Heide. “I’m married, but I kept Anderson on my back because my dad and my mom are the reason I’m there.”
Anderson-Heide is lead on Team Peterson which means she throws the first two rocks of every end, trying to set up strategy for the start of the end. An end in curling is like an inning in baseball.
The rest of the end, she sweeps. Sweeping helps the direction of the rock to go straighter or curl. Anderson-Heide said it is her favorite thing to do.
All of her sisters and her parents will be in Cortina.
“It is exciting. I will see them in the crowd cheering. Just living this dream with my whole family is just hard to put into words,” said Anderson-Heide.
Anderson-Heide is excited to be on the Olympic ice and throw the first rock. Her goal is to play well, sweep strong, be the best teammate she can be, and make some great shots.
She said it is amazing to see the sport grow in the U.S. She loves curling and hopes other people love it, too.
Anderson-Heide offered this advice for any young athletes: “Set your goals really high. Don’t hold back. If you put the time in, work ethic, it goes a lot further than skill. If you put your time in and focus on it you can accomplish it.”
