American snowboarders Chloe Kim, Bea Kim and Maddie Mastro will compete in the women’s halfpipe final Thursday afternoon, though all eyes will be on Kim, as the 25-year-old Californian looks to capture a historic third straight gold medal in the Winter Olympics event.
Each of the 12 finalists w
ill take three turns at the halfpipe, with their best score used to determine placement. The first of the halfpipe runs begins Thursday at 1:30 p.m. ET., followed immediately by the second and third runs, after which medals will be awarded. Kim snowboards last in each of the three runs.

The two-time gold medalist in the women’s snowboard halfpipe sailed through qualifications on Wednesday to land a spot in the finals. She did so while wearing a shoulder brace for an injury she sustained four weeks ago.
