Some of the best Olympic stories have nothing to do with hardware. AJ Hurt and Keely Cashman, both from Truckee, started skiing against each other at age 12, grew into best friends, and both made Team USA in different disciplines, which is why the 2026 Milan Cortina Games are so perfect for them. The first-ever Alpine skiing women’s team combined event took place Wednesday, and Hurt and Cashman got paired up together as teammates, adding a new level of specialness to these Olympics for them. Cashman’s downhill wasn’t the greatest, and they didn’t medal, but it didn’t matter. “I think we had the most fun out there, and that’s what’s most important to me [is] just the experience and just enjoying what we’re doing,” Cashman told NBC Bay Area.
