The Inland girls athlete of the week: Name: Bella Medina School: Moreno Valley Sport: Basketball Year: Senior Noteworthy: Medina, a 5-foot-8 guard, scored a season-high 33 points and also tallied six steals as the Vikings cruised to an 84-17 Ivy League win over Valley View to secure the program’s sixth straight league championship. Medina’s point total was two shy of her career high of 35, set during her sophomore season against Temescal Canyon. Medina made 13 of 18 shots against Valley View, including 6 of 11 attempts from 3-point range. She is averaging a team-high 17.6 points per game for Moreno Valley, which opens the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoff at home Thursday against Village Christian.
