Pedestrian killed in hitandrun crash on Rockville Road
Feb 10, 2026
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A pedestrian died Tuesday morning after being hit by a vehicle in a hit-and-run crash on Indy’s west side.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department confirmed the incident Tuesday.
Officers were called to the area of Bridgeport and Rockville roads around 8
a.m. on a report of a hit-and-run crash with serious injuries.
There, they found the adult male victim lying off the side of the shoulder. He was rushed to a hospital, but later died.
IMPD Ofc. Tommy Thompson says some officers were familiar with the victim and were on good terms. “He would be seen walking up and down the street every morning. I know (those officers) are affected by this, this was someone in their community.”
Thompson also asks the public to come forward with any information they may have.
“This area, we don’t have a lot of cameras, we haven’t had anyone come forward. So, if you know someone who may have been involved in something, or heard something, or were driving by the area and saw something, we need any help that we can get.”
