RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Millions across the U.S. and the world watched as the Seattle Seahawks defeated the New England Patriots 29-13 in Super Bowl LX on Sunday, Feb. 8.
Some in Richmond elected to watch all the action in this NFL championship game at Home Team Grill off W. Main Street in the Fan
Districts. Seahawks and Patriots fans represented themselves inside, where emotions sparked after every play.
Proving to be a familiar favorite, Home Team Grill welcomed in patrons where its 200-person capacity was met, and it drew in three to four times its normal NFL Sunday business, compressed into a handful of hours. Its 15 television screens helped draw people to the action where some could not hold their excitement, with their passions igniting at every turn, regardless of team.
"The Eagles should be here," said Ronald Only, visiting Home Team Grill. "I wanted to straighten it out right here."
Alas, the Seahawks and Patriots met on the gridiron at Levi's Stadium in California. Their fans all the way in Richmond ached to watch their team become NFL champions.
"Go Patriots!" Maddy Tompkins said. "Good luck tonight. Best fans ever!"
"I'm rooting for the Seahawks because I don't like the Patriots winning," added Riley Pierce.
Pierce got her wish, watching the Seahawks win it all. For some, back in our neck of the woods, the Super Bowl was about more than football.
"We just came to hang out with our friends and celebrate the Super Bowl," said Zoe Wilcox while in a group.
Sunday's win marks Seattle's second Super Bowl victory, following its Super Bowl XLVIII win in 2014. Their starting quarterback then was Richmond's own and Collegiate School graduate Russell Wilson.
