The halftime show for this year's Super Bowl has become something of a touchstone in the cultural -- and political -- divide between the right and the left. The announcement last October that the show would be headlined by Bad Bunny was met with derision on the right.
The Puerto Rican superstar has been at times critical of President Donald Trump. Last week, he kicked off his Grammy acceptance speech with saying "ICE out," in reference to U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement.
Paul, in his tweet, referenced Bad Bunny without naming him directly, falsely labelling him a "fake American citizen," and claiming the singer "publicly hates America."

California Gov. Gavin Newsom responded to Paul's call for a boycott of the halftime show, saying in a post on X that Paul was "such a little MAGA snowflake."
Jake Paul's brother, Logan Paul, also weighed in, taking to X to say, "I love my brother but I don't agree with this."
"Puerto Ricans are Americans I'm happy they were given the opportunity to showcase the talent that comes from the island," he continued.
