Feb. 8 | Evening forecast with Meteorologist Drew Narsutis TONIGHT Mostly cloudy with lows in the low 20s downtown. Wind will be east southeast near 5 mph. Quiet skies, but any damp spots from daytime melting can glaze late. The impact of this cold could be patchy black ice on bridges, ra mps, and shaded sidewalks.  TOMORROW Mostly sunny and noticeably milder with highs in the mid 30s. Winds will be southeast near 5 mph. The thaw gets traction during the afternoon. This will improve travel, but melting snow and ice can leave standing water in low spots.  TOMORROW NIGHT Partly cloudy with lows around 30. South southwest wind near 5 mph. Refreeze is less aggressive than recent nights, though colder pockets can still glaze wet pavement late.  TUESDAY Mostly sunny and warmer with highs in the mid 40s. Fletcher Place to Broad Ripple should feel like a true break from winter. This Tuesday we will see a rapid melt continues, and any lingering snow piles shrink fast.  TUESDAY NIGHT Mostly cloudy with lows near 30. Wind northwest near 5 mph. No big weather headline, but runoff continues as the thaw works on river ice. Keep an eye on water levels and ice movement on area creeks and rivers.  WEDNESDAY Partly sunny with highs around 40. Winds north northwest near 5 mph. A small cool down settles in behind a dry front. We will see continued thaw during daylight, but less melt rate than Tuesday.  WEDNESDAY NIGHT Mostly cloudy with lows in the mid 20s. The wind will be north northeast near 5 mph. Any pooled water in poorly drained areas can skim over overnight. We could see isolated slick spots early Thursday, especially in shaded parking lots. THURSDAY Cloudy with highs in the mid 30s. Wind northeast near 5 mph. A few snow showers become possible during the afternoon. This may make up a low coverage overall, but a brief burst could coat untreated sidewalks and make the evening commute locally slick.  THURSDAY NIGHT Mostly cloudy with a better chance of light snow and lows in the mid 20s. East northeast wind near 5 mph. We could see a light accumulation is possible, and even a thin coating can create slick travel late night and early Friday.  7 DAY FORECAST After the milder start to the week, temperatures trend back toward seasonable levels mid to late week while cloud cover increases. Precipitation chances expand late Thursday into the weekend with a mix of rain and snow possibilities and lower confidence on timing and type, and the most consistent impact signal is hydrology as the early week warmup and occasional light precipitation increase the risk of river ice breakup, ice jams, and localized flooding in sensitive spots. ...read more read less
