Feb 07, 2026
There were fewer calls to police for help in Wrightstown Township last year compared to the year before, and the total number of traffic accidents, deer collisions and driving-under-the-influence arrests also were down during that period of time.
The 2025 year-end statistics, compiled by Newtown Tow
nship Police, the entity that provides police coverage in Wrightstown Township, recently were released and also show total arrests declined.
“The heavily traveled Newtown Bypass runs right through the heart of our jurisdiction, bringing with it traffic, speeding, crashes, and other safety concerns,” said John L. Hearn, police chief, in a statement accompanying the statistic. “Criminals now travel from other states and regions to target our community, whether in a car or via the computer. The protection of all people who live in, travel through, or visit this community is the focus of our agency. The goal is to keep the Newtown area free of crime and disorder, enhance the quality of life, and provide an environment to be proud of.”
The year-end report displayed statistics for 2025 versus 2024, and played out like this:
Total calls for police service – 6,106; 6,524. Fatal traffic accidents – 0; 2. Traffic accidents with injuries – 76; 81. Hit and run- 7; 4. Struck a deer- 59; 70. Traffic citations – 373; 446. DUI arrest – 6; 10. Total arrest – 20; 38.
