INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Michael Miller of Southern Glazer’s Wine Spirits presented Seven Daughters Moscato and Red Blend as the “Drink of the Week” highlighting the brand’s partnership with actor Taraji P. Henson.
Seven Daughte
rs Moscato has been the top-selling Moscato in Indiana for five consecutive years.
Produced by the Terlato family in Italy’s Veneto region, Seven Daughters is a collaborative wine project aimed at new wine drinkers. Sourced from family farms, the wines feature lower alcohol levels and slight effervescence intended to introduce consumers to drier wine styles.
Seven Daughters Moscato is made from 100% Moscato grapes and contains 7.5% alcohol. Miller, a sommelier and representative for Southern Glazer’s Wine Spirits, said the wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks to trap carbon dioxide, creating natural bubbles and a lightly fizzy texture.
“It’s very exotic fruit-driven — nectarine, peach, apricot,” Miller said. He described the sweetness as making it an “easy entry wine” for those who prefer something less dry and tannic.
Henson, an actor, producer and author, collaborated with the Terlato family on the brand. Miller described the partnership as a passion project centered on the Tre Venezie region of northeastern Italy, with labels and flavor profiles developed through the collaboration.
The Seven Daughters Red Blend contains 11% alcohol and is made from indigenous Italian grapes, including Marzemino and Corvina, blended with Merlot. While it opens with sweetness, the wine finishes drier than the Moscato and also features a soft, persistent effervescence.
“This wine goes great with chocolate,” Miller said, recommending the red blend with chocolate terrine or other desserts. Both wines retail for about $10, which Miller described as an affordable option for casual gatherings or gifts.
Miller emphasized the importance of matching a wine’s weight, acidity and structure with the dish being served. He suggested pairing the Moscato with spicy Thai cuisine or fruit-forward desserts to ensure balance.
Miller also recommended the wines as gift options for Valentine’s Day on Feb. 14. More information on the featured wines and pairings is available at sevendaughters.com.
