PLAINSBORO — West Windsor-Plainsboro High North’s Annabelle Lee and Hightstown High’s Jasleen Khosa have had different experiences this season on the way to helping their respective varsity girls’ basketball teams as the 2025-26 campaign winds down. Lee is a 5-foot-5 senior veteran guard who returned from an injury this week after missing 11 games. Khosa is a nearly 5-foot-11 junior forward who has been getting better along with her team in her first season with head coach Jenna Marcus’ varsity. Both did what they could to help their clubs Thursday when they met where the Colonial Valley Conference Tournament finals will be played in a little over two weeks. Lee led the Northern Knights with 12 points, but could not snap her team’s 13-game losing streak as the Rams won, 45-29. Khosa supplied a double-double for the visitors with 10 points and 10 rebounds, plus three steals and two blocked shots, to back a game-high 18 points from 5-10 sophomore guard Hayley DeKok. “It’s definitely been different not being able to play for so long this season,” Lee said. “My teammates and coaches helped me stay focused, so I could return.” While her ankle is still a little tender, Lee’s shot has been on point. She shot 4-for-4 at the foul line and hit two 3-point field goals, giving her 18 in nine games this season (three less than she had all of last year). Lee has struck for double figures in all three games since she returned to push her average to 11.8 points per game. When asked what she’d like to accomplish down the stretch with her team, Lee said, “Hopefully, we’ll get a win. I’d like to play as hard as I can and leave it all out on the floor each game.” Lee and head coach Jay Lagomarsino’s 3-17 WW-P North squad did that early yesterday to create four ties and five lead changes before Hightstown took control. DeKok took care of that by connecting on eight of the Rams’ final 10 points of the half after the game was tied at 13. DeKok, the CVC’s 3-point leader, hit four more in the game, giving her 75 on the season (after hitting nine in a game Wednesday). Khosa kept the home team honest in its coverage in the second half by stepping outside the lane to hit two treys of her own (15 on the year). “At halftime, my coaches told me to shoot higher because I always tend to shoot flat,” said Khosa, who scored all of her points in the second half. “In the beginning of the season, it was hard for us with so many new (varsity) players. But the team’s been coming together.” Since starting the season 0-5, Hightstown has gone 9-6, including four wins in its last six games. A lot of that turnaround has to do with defense. But it does not hurt to have role players like Khosa contributing offensively. Thursday marked the fourth time she hit for double figures. Junior Kylie Gulli added eight points and senior Lexie Wersching chipped in seven points to make the Rams harder to guard. Sophomore Laya Krishna’s six points (two 3-pointers) were the Northern Knights’ second most behind Lee.
