Snow forecast Friday night, extreme cold and high wind watch in effect for Philly region
Feb 06, 2026
Some snow will definitely be hitting the southeastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey area of the Philly region Friday night. It will not be much, but it could make for dangerous travel especially if squalls hit.
Berks, Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery counties in PA should get less than an inch
of snow according to the National Weather Service. Mercer County New Jersey could see just over 1 inch.
“There is a 40% to 70% chance of light snow beginning Friday evening and continuing into the overnight hours,” the National Weather Service’s Mount Holly Office stated Thursday at 4:10 p.m. “An arctic front may produce snow squalls early Saturday morning. Snow amounts are expected to range from a coating to around an inch, though gusty winds and low visibilities within any snow squalls could lead to dangerous travel.”

Snow squalls are defined by the NWS as quick-hitting snow storms producing white out conditions lasting less than hour associated with strong cold fronts and quickly dropping temperatures that produce icy roads.
Another round of squalls or snow showers is possible early Saturday morning.
An extreme cold watch has been issued by the NWS from 3 p.m. Saturday through 10 a.m. Sunday.
High winds and extremely cold temperatures move in Saturday and predicted to last through Monday morning at least. Gusts of 40 to 60 mph are possible with sustained winds in the 20 to 35 mph range.
Wind chills as low as -25 degrees could be felt in the northern reaches of the region the NWS said.
