Man found dead as firefighters respond to flames at home in North Philly

Firefighters found a man dead in a North Philadelphia home early Thursday after they responded to flames at a property near the intersection of North 12th and Huntingdon streets.
At about 6:15 a.m. on Thursday, NBC10’s SkyForce10 captured images of firefighters working on the roof of the struct
ure along the 2500 block of North 12th Street, with their flashlights beaming through the early morning sunlight, as they worked to extinguish the flames.
According to Philadelphia Fire Department Executive Chief Daniel McCarty, firefighters were at the incident within a minute of it being called in.
And, he noted, after they entered the structure, firefighters found a man dead inside the property.
He said that crews had the fire extinguished within about a half-hour after they arrived.
McCarty did not provide additional identifying information on the victim, nor did he discuss what may have caused the fire.
As of about 6:45 a.m., crews were still working at the scene.
